On paper:

• Most of the time, on paper, SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S is applied by size-press: SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S 12 to 15%.
• To obtain a good absorption of SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S, paper should not be sized or only slightly sized in order to achieve sufficient absorption.

On wood:

• Wood is dipped in pure-to-slightly-diluted SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S.

Examples of Application

On paper:

• SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S is applied by size-press, on paper containing no-sized agent to obtain a maximum absorption:
• SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S 300-500 g/L (To obtain a dried deposit of 12-15%).

On cardboard:
On cardboard, it is applied: SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S around 500 g/L.
On paper market, SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S can be used to give fireproofing properties on, for example:

• Place of sale advertising,
• Flameproof cardboard for exhibition stands,
• Technical cardboard for building trade (as isolating panels),
• Filters for paint booths.

Properties

SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S gives fair to good fire-proofing properties to cellulosic materials.
SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S can be applied on:

• Paper, card board, Kraft paper
• Wood (plywood, chipboard)

SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S allows homogeneous in-depth fireproofing.

• It has no or low effect on mechanical properties of the support.
• It does no emit ammonia.
• It may induce low corrosion.

Most of the time, it is applied (expressed as dry weight in relation to the dry weight of substrate): SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S 12% to 15%
(For some support, 8% might be enough. Some trials are required to verify the efficiency of the product, in function of the treated support)

SYNTHRO®-NYL SN 2017 S may be applied together with binders, and used in coating applications.
Compatibility is to be verified in laboratory for each different case, but it has proved to be compatible with several acrylic, styrene-acrylic and styrene-butadiene binders grades.
