"Ras Lanuf Oil and Gas Manufacturing Company was established by Resolution (137) for the year 1982 AD and amended by Resolution No. (523) for the year 1986 AD. It is a joint stock company with Libyan nationality and wholly owned by the National Oil Corporation. (1) for the year 1987 AD.

The company was established for the purpose of carrying out all the operations of the oil industry and its derivatives and the production of petroleum chemicals, organic plastics and fibers.

The site for the construction of the complex was chosen based on careful technical and economic studies, which took into account several things, including:

The coastal road passes directly to facilitate communication with the various cities of Libya.
The proximity of the site to the sea to facilitate the provision of water and the export of petroleum products through"
