Royal Coatings RC-12

Royal RC-12 is the next generation in a high performance waterbased sucker rod coating. Formulated using Royal’s proprietary polymer technology coating integrity can withstand the coldest of winters and the hottest of summers. In addition to its outstanding protection properties, it significantly reduces the hazards of working with volatile compounds found in other VOC coatings. RC-12 cannot ignite and because it does not create any toxic vapors, the odor, headaches, and nausea often associated with other coatings are completely eliminated. Royal RC-12 provides greater corrosion resistance for rods and greater health protection for workers.

Specifications

Films that offer optimum corrosion protection are 3 mils dry over rod profile. If profile is 3 mils then total coat thickeness is 6 DFT Reduce with water (Never thin with solvents)

Surface Preparation

Minimum SSPC-SP26 , NACE #1 , 31 GP 404 TYPE 1 , SA. 3 OR BS4232 First Quality

Limitations

At ambient temperatures below 25°C paint lines must be lagged. In-line heaters should not be used unless absolutely necessary. For maximum performance the curing temperature should be kept below 35°C. Particular care should be taken to avoid exceeding this in localized areas when artificial heating is introduced. The climatic conditions within the tank must be controlled to maintain a maximum relative humidity of 90%. The drying times and overcoating intervals may alter due to various on-site factors such as tank configuration and ventilation rates.
