Rust Bullet® Blackshell® Gloss is a single component, aliphatic moisture cured urethane, gloss topcoat. BlackShell® can be applied over painted or unpainted surfaces and can be used as a stand-alone protective coating that will protect your iron and steel. For the ultimate protection, apply BlackShell® as a topcoat over our patented Rust Bullet Standard® or Rust Bullet Automotive© Formulas. BlackShell® Gloss is UV resistant, scratch and chip resistant. BlackShell® can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed.

Cure Method
Typical Uses

High performance topcoat protection for steel and iron applications, such as industrial, marine, farm, automotive, and any place where rust is a problem, or a gloss black finish is desired.

Recoat Ability

With BlackShell after 2-6 hours, not to exceed 12 hours.

Cure Times
  • Depending on ambient temperature and relative humidity, and WFT:
  • Handle: 2-4 hours.
  • Touch: 2-4 hours.
  • Recoat: 2-6, not exceeding 12 hours.
Compatibility

With most other MCUs (Moisture-cured Urethane); always refer to the coating manufacturers guidelines for application and compatibility.

Surface Preparation

Surface must be free of contaminates, such as, loose rust, oil, grease, wax, moisture etc. This may be achieved by light scraping; a detergent or solvent wipe may be used if necessary.
