It is adapted to areas of warm and very hot temperatures from the central San Joaquin Valley to the low desert areas of California and Arizona.Disease, insect, and nematode resistance
SW10 is resistant to Root Knot Nematode and highly resistant to Spotted Alfalfa Aphid, Pea Aphid and Blue Alfalfa Aphid. Evaluations for alfalfa disease are currently in test and look very good.High Yields
SW10 was the highest yielding variety in 2002 University of California Imperial Valley trial of 44 variety entries, second highest average yielding alfalfa in University of Arizona trial of 25 varieties at Tucson -2001 & 2002.SW10 is a fall dormancy 10 alfafa variety that offers excellent yield and stand persistence. Upon its introduction, SW10 was the highest yielding variety out of 25 entries in a University of Arizona Forage Trial in Tucson. It was the second highest average yielding variety out of 44 entries in the UC Forage Trial in Imperial Valley. SW10 is very quick to recover after cutting. It competes well with Bermuda grass. SW10 has strong yield ability in the low desert, hot areas of Mexico, the Southern San Joaquin Valley, Imperial Valley and Arizona. SW10 is well-suited to alfalfa production in north Africa, Saudi Arabia, and similar climates around the world.
