Product Highlights: Centella asiatica commonly known as Gotu kola, has been used in South Asian countries, Africa and Madagascar as a “panacea” in the last 3,000 years. In traditional Asian medicine, centella used for dermatological conditions like wounds, scratches, burns, hypertrophic wounds to support healthy inflammation levels, particularly in eczema.

Centella improves the collagen synthesis around wound sites, quicker epithelialisation and improves the tensile strength of newly formed skin. Moreover, it has UV protection properties, finds a wide range of cosmetic applications including regeneration of aged skin, scar management, dermal itch, and other skin irritations.

Applications Study Details: In a clinical study, the safety and efficacy of a foot care cream prepared with 2% Centellin® CG were evaluated in the management of cracked heels in healthy female volunteers. The cream showed a beneficial effect on cell proliferation, collagen synthesis and dramatical improvement on wound healing in fibroblast scratch and also increased hydration of the skin in cracked and chapped feet (Fig.1 and Fig.2).

The study reported that Centellin® CG is effective in healing cracks, reducing the associated pain by virtue of its moisturizing, analgesic and collagen boosting properties.
