CATION SF-75PA is a plant-derived agent. It imparts high softness and water absorbency.CATION SF-75PA is an imidazoline-type cationic surfactant produced by fatty acid made from palm oil, and is suitable as a base material for household fabric softeners. This product imparts excellent softness and an antistatic property to textiles such as cotton and polyester fabrics. Compared to conventional quaternary ammonium salt type softeners, CATION SF-75PA minimally affects water absorbency of the textiles.

Features & Benefits

Features

CATION SF-75PA has the following features: ·

  • Imparts excellent softness to various textiles such as cotton and polyester fabrics.
  • Slightly lowers water absorbency of textiles after a treatment with the softener.
  • Imparts an antistatic property to synthetic fiber textiles.
  • Capable of producing a highly-concentrated softener.
  • Has excellent biodegradability compared with quaternary ammonium salt type softening base material agent (e.g. distearyldimethylammonium chloride).

Application Methods

1. Caution Before Use

  • CATION SF-75PA becomes a paste or turbidity under cold conditions. Using it in an unchanged condition may vary in quality by compositional separation and may not exert desirable performance. In these cases, CATION SF-75PA should be heated to 65 °C or lower with warm water, warm air or steam and mixed uniformly before use. Never heat directly with fire.

2. Preparation Method of Softener

  • CATION SF-75PA is used as a base material for household fabric softeners. An example of a preparation method for household fabric softeners is shown below.
  • This product should be gradually added to an aqueous solution of an emulsifier while stirring between 50°C and 60°C to emulsify this product completely.
  • The optimal amount of this product depends on whether a high-concentration type softener or a low-concentration type softener is to be prepared. Determine the optimal amount by referring to Examples of Applications on page 5.
  • Nonionic surfactants are suitable as an emulsifier; these include NAROACTY CL-200 (poly- oxyethylene alkyl ether, a Sanyo Chemical product).
