It is listed as top grade in Shennong Materia Medica Classic.The leaves of Eucommia ulmoides and Eucommia ulmoides are very similar in chemical composition and pharmacological action. The exploitation and utilization of the leaves of Eucommia ulmoides can effectively protect the resources of Eucommia ulmoides. Its active ingredients are mainly lignans, iridoids, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids and so on. Eucommia ulmoides leaves have many functions in cosmetics. It can enhance the activities of SOD and GSH-Px in cells and inhibit the production of lipid peroxidation product MDA. At the same time, it can inhibit the activity of transcription factor NF-kB, down-regulate the generation of TNF-αand IL-8, and produce anti-inflammatory effect. In addition, Eucommia ulmoides leaves also have antibacterial, anti-acne and other effects.
