Shiraishi has been constructively developing and using calcium carbonate for 100 years. Even though many consumers may not notice the existence, the calcium carbonate products that we make are active in many diverse ways around them. Such wide range of usage of calcium carbonate owes to the technologies that provided it in particle shape and even changed its properties in a number of ways. These technologies made it possible to link calcium carbonate with other materials according to needs. They help control the required properties of final products, including the reinforcing of rubber or plastic products, the gloss of paper, and more. Our task is to support macro engineering with micro level surfaces. In fact, our work is all about "surface".
