Silmaco Sodium Disilicate

Sodium disilicate is hydrated and completely soluble in water. It is produced in a state-of-the art granulation plant allowing a careful control of the composition (ratio, hydration, particle size) which ensures a stable product quality ! Our sodium disilicate is a versatile product that shows excellent buffering capacity, effective corrosion inhibition, good bleach stabilizing- and binding properties. The product is made from sand and soda and recognized as environmentally safe. Our sodium disilicate is particularly suitable for use in dry-mix products and where less water is desired.

Product Highlights

Our hydrated sodium disilicate contains both silica and alkalinity in a molar ratio of 2:1 between silica and sodium oxide. In addition, as it is hydrated it contains 18% of water which improves it's solubility. Our powder range has been specifically developed to meet the demand for different rates of solution and reactivity. Sodium disilicate is a sodium silicate with a SiO2/Na2O molar ratio of approximately 2,00 and a solid content of 82%.

Safety & Health

Safety and Handling

Sodium trisilicates are alkaline products which are classified as irritating. They should be handled with care in order to prevent injuries. Whenever sodium trisilicate as a substance on its own or in a preparation is handled outside closed systems, suitable personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, dust masks or respirators) is the preferred and only measure of control.
