What is "Zeomic?"

A silver-base inorganic antimicrobial agent answering all antimicrobial needs.

Zeomic is the world's first silver-base inorganic antimicrobial agent commercialized by Sinanen Zeomic Co., Ltd. in 1984. Compared to organic antimicrobial agents,Zeomic boasts excellent safety, sustainability, heat resistance and so on. As such,it is highly regarded not only in Japan, but throughout the world.

Functions
  1. Zeomic antimicrobial function: As more and more emphasis is placed on the peace-of-mind and safety of people, the functions and roles demanded of antimicrobial agents are diversifying. In 1984, Sinanen Zeomic was the first in the world to succeed at commercializing Zeomic, a silver-base inorganic antimicrobial agent. With its superior antimicrobial effect and high safety factor, Zeomic is used in a broad range of fields, from food packaging and home construction materials close to the everyday life of people, and to medical, supporting a safe and comfortable lifestyle.

  2. Zeomic's odor-eliminating function: In addition to antimicrobial effects, Zeomic also provides an odor-eliminating effect.
The synergetic effect of the zeolite’s physical absorption of odiferous elements (physisorption) and the chemical absorption by metal ions (chemisorption) makes Zeomic effective on a wide range of odiferous elements.
When Zeomic is used in cloth, it provides the 2-in-1 effect of both “antimicrobial” and “odor-elimination”.

  3. Zeomic's antiviral function: In addition to having antimicrobial effects on bacteria and mold,Zeomic also has the ability to inactivate viruses. By processing with Zeomic,it is possible to keep the surface of products hygienic.

Precautions upon use:

  1. Zeomic is a fine powder. When adding to a substance,be careful that the particles do not clump together and ensure they disperse well.
  2. To secure good dispersibility when kneading Zeomic into plastic,we recommend making a master batch or compound first, then adding it to the molding material. Likewise, when using with liquids such as paint, dispersibility can be secured through ideas such as gradually dissolving Zeomic in solvent with a good compatibility, etc.
  3. Zeomic absorbs moisture. Please take due care when using.
  4. Occasionally,Zeomic may change color when added to high-polymer material. This is believed to be because the silver ions in Zeomic chemically react with sulfur, phosphate, etc. and form a colored silver compound. Care is needed as these chemical elements may be present in high-polymer material as additives or stabilizers.

Storage & Handling

Precautions upon Storage
  1. Store in a cool, dark place avoiding high temperature, high humidity and direct sunlight.
  2. Zeomic for plastic and synthetic fiber applications is dried at a high temperature before being shipped. Therefore, drying temperature during the preliminary drying that takes place before general molding and spinning operations would be relatively low and could result in unintentional moisture absorption. Ideally,Zeomic should be weighed and used early on after opening,to reduce the time involved as much as possible.
  3. If there is any Zeomic left over, seal tightly and store.
