Type 1XR™ is a mixture of Portland cement and vermiculite. This combination has formed the basis of spray-applied fireproofing materials for over 50 years. It is non-combustible and when under fire it releases water of crystallization which turns to steam and retards heat transfer. Type 1XR™ sets to form a hard and durable monolithic barrier.
