Product Highlights

Type 5MD™ cementitious fireproofing is derived from the beneficial combination of gypsum and vermiculite. It is non-combustible and when under fire it releases water of crystallization which turns to steam and retards heat transfer.Type 5MD™ has a controllable quick set time which expedites application. Use of gypsum as the cementitious binder, benefits of vermiculite mineral aggregate and important contributions from other additives make Type 5 products superior. A Gypsum based Spray-applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) designed for the fire protection of interior structural steel. Formulated for application to meet and exceed specified density and bond strengths including industry medium density standards and the IBC requirements for High Rise Buildings.

Note
  1. Air dry at ambient conditions to constant weight. Do not force cure. Use ASTM E605 Positive Bead Displacement method utilizing #8 lead shot. Test density in accordance with AWCI Technical Manual 12-A (Standard Practice for the Testing and inspection of Field Applied Sprayed Fire-Resistive Materials, an Annotated Guide). In place density depends upon the bond strength required by code.
  2. 15/14 PCF (minimum) required for UL designs.
  3. Tests were conducted under ASTM E-736 standard procedure and/or in accord with Appendix B of AWCI Technical Manual 12-A.
  4. Densities less than 22 PCF were achieved using alum injection. For details please contact manufacturers Technical Service.
  5. All values derived under controlled laboratory conditions. Test reports and additional data available upon written request
