  • ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE is a highly active bactericide/bacteriostat and fungistat for use as a preservative in metalworking cutting fluids, gas/oil drilling muds/packer fluids and industrial adhesives, emulsions and inks (non-food use).
  • ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE is miscible with soft and hard water (400 ppm CaCO3) in all proportions, as well as with alcohol and acetone in all proportions. ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE is insoluble in ether, benzene, petroleum and chloroform. ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE, at the recommended use level, does not contribute to corrosion of metal compounds.
  • ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE is compatible with anionics, cationics, and nonionics at the proper pH range of 8-12. Product will lose activity at a < pH 5.0 and in the presence of hydrogen peroxide at a pH >10.

Registration

In the U.S., all products used on inanimate surfaces which are sold and claimed to be bacteriostatic, germicidal, algacidal or to kill or inhibit organisms in any way are required to be registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Formulators are responsible for any additional data which may be required by local, state or country agencies.

Health Effects

ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE is slightly toxic orally (LD₅₀ >763 g/kg) and dermally (LD₅₀ >2 g/kg) causes slight skin irritation and is corrosive to the eye. The product is not mutagenic.

Storage & Handling

Storage & Handling
  • Gloves, protective clothing, safety goggles and face shield should be worn when handling ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, or prolonged skin contact. Wash thoroughly after handling product.
  • It is recommended that ONYXIDE 200 PRESERVATIVE be stored in sealed containers at temperatures no lower than 10°C (50°F) or higher than 48.9°C (120°F) and kept in a cool, dry place. Avoid overheating or freezing.
  • Bulk storage: Vessels, pumps, pipes, transfer lines, and internal hairpin coil should be made of 316 stainless steel. Prolonged contact with brass, copper or aluminum piping, containers or equipment should be avoided.
