Stepan phosphate esters produce a variety of stable emulsion polymers for coatings applications. When used in the emulsion polymerization of acrylic, styrene-acrylic, or vinyl-acrylic composition, Stepan phosphate esters demonstrate performance advantages in the following areas:
- Low coagulum
- Particle size control
- Shear stability
- Freeze-thaw stability
- Heat and light stability
- Retard metal substrate corrosion
- Pigment dispersant

- Storage & Handling
Normal safety precautions (i.e., gloves and safety goggles) should be employed when handling POLYSTEP P12A. Contact with eyes, nose or prolonged contact with skin should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling POLYSTEP P-12A.
Storage Recommendations
POLYSTEP P-12A should be stored in closed containers and kept in a cool, dry place away from incompatible materials. An elevated storage temperature may be desirable to maintain ease of pumping, however product should be stored long-term at ambient temperatures. Stepan’s recommended re-test for this product is 1 year (12 months) from the date of manufacture. After 1 year (12 months), we recommend the customer re-analyze to assure product is within specification.
- Workplace Exposure
Occupational exposure can occur primarily through skin contact or via inhalation of vapors and mists. Engineering controls, personal protective equipment, and other workplace practices should be used to control these exposures.
