ZELEC TY is an effective antistatic agent for use in polyolefin fibers, plastics and films and on carpet. It can be applied by padding, impregnating, spraying or coating followed by drying in standard equipment.
Functional Properties
- Lowers electrical resistivity to the surfaces to which it is applied when used in an environment with adequate atmospheric moisture.
End Product Uses
- Wetting/antistatic agent for use where water repellency properties are desired, especially when used in conjunction with fluorochemical water repelling products.
- Usage Rates
Textiles
Aqueous solutions of 2% or more should satisfactorily wet out even hard-to-wet synthetic materials, as well as provide uniform coverage and good antistatic properties while not markedly reducing the water repellency of the substrate.
Carpet Applications
Used at 0.5% on the weight of the surface fiber as an effective anti-static agent for nylon with little adverse effect to dry soiling. It can be used with other anionic-based carpet protection formulations.

ZELEC TY is practically non-toxic orally (LD50=20371 mg/kg) and causes severe skin and eye irritation at 50% active. The product is not mutagenic.

Normal safety precautions (i.e., gloves and safety goggles) should be employed when handling ZELEC TY. ZELEC TY is severely irritating to eyes and skin, contact with eyes and skin should be avoided. ZELEC TY should be stored in a cool, dry place in closed containers.
- Workplace Exposure
Occupational exposure can occur primarily through skin contact or via inhalation of vapors and mists. Engineering controls, personal protective equipment, and other workplace practices should be used to control these exposures.
