1 of 26 products in this brand
Sternzym GLAC 10 is a purified α-galactosidase (E.C. 3.2.1.22, α-D-galactoside galactohydrolase) of fungal origin with a wide pH and temperature range. The enzyme α-galactosidase hydrolyses the terminal, non-reducing α-D-galactose residues in α-D-galactosides, including galactose oligosaccharides, galactomannans and galactolipids. Sternzym GLAC 10 is a powdered enzyme preparation, which is used in the dietary supplements as a digestive aid to reduce the intolerance to complex carbohydrates.

    Applications

Digestive preparation for α-galactosidase insufficient individuals.

Foods like greens and beans might trigger bloating and gas. These foods have carbohydrates that are linked to protein or fats, known as glycolipids and glycoproteins, which aren’t effectively broken down in the gut. These poorly-digested particles serve as a food source for intestinal bacteria, which ferment the leftovers producing hydrogen and carbon dioxide gas as byproducts. Too much gas leads to stomach pains and stomach discomfort. The process however, can be halted by an enzyme known as α-galactosidase which can break down starches and foods that are difficult to digest.

    Advantages of α-galactosidase as supplement:

    • Helps digestion and maintain the proper functioning of the system
    • Reduce intestinal gas
    • Ideal with complex carbohydrate intolerance
    • Help people suffering from Fabry´s Disease
