Surface Preparation and the Painting System

New, Unpainted Wood

Remove any dust, dirt and grease stains. Ascertain that the surface is dry. Sand with sandpaper 0 or 360 and clean off sanding dust. Apply a first coat of Varnit for Wood. Allow drying to a hard coat. Sand again with sandpaper 0 or 360 and clean off sanding dust. Apply another coat (until a satin finish is obtained). Ascertain complete drying between coats.

Old, Varnish Painted Wood

Remove any old, loose and peeling coats and paint residue. Clean off dirt and dust. Notice: To obtain high exterior durability, apply the clear lacquers (Varnit for Wood 100, Varnit for Wood 200) only on colored Varnit for Wood. Darker colors provide better protection. To change the final finish and gloss and to provide additional protection, use clear lacquers: Varnit for Wood 100 for glossy finish or Varnit for Wood 200 for matt finish.

Application
  • A ready to use wood stain. Stir well before application and while painting. When needed, thin Varnit for Wood 100 or Varnit for Wood 200 with Tambour Mineral White Spirit by 5%- 10%. Brush Application: Apply along the wood grain.
  • Sponge Application: apply several coats, to provide the required protection to the wood. Apply several coats until a satin gloss is obtained.

Cleanup : Clean work tools with mineral white spirit, immediately after use. Pour a thin layer of mineral white spirit on the remaining paint and close the container tightly to prevent air penetration.

Cautions : The paint is inedible, flammable, keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use in a well ventilated area only. Avoid inhaling the lacquer or its vapors. Specific information regarding the product is available in the safety manual (MSDS). Wash your hands with water and soap after completing application.
