Hazards Xylene is highly flammable and vapors can form an explosive mixture in the air. A principal health hazard is an exposure to vapor which may be irritant to the skin, lungs and eyes. Excessive exposure may cause headaches and dizziness. Repeated skin contact can cause dermatitis.
First Aid: In case of skin contact wash immediately with soap and water. Eye contact, flush with water for at least 15 minutes. For excessive vapor, inhalation removes to fresh air, if loss of consciousness give oxygen. If breathing stops give resuscitation.
Spillage: Eliminate all sources of ignition. Absorb spills with sand or earth and remove them to a safe area for disposal by burying or burning.
Fire Fighting: Extinguish with Carbon Dioxide, Dry Power or Foam.
