Field Of Application

Technicoll® 8102 is a sprayable contact adhesive for all standard upholstery materials. Fast tacking adhesive with high tack. Apply only a thin layer in order to achieve a high compound strength. After a short drying time, the compound strength is higher than the tearing strength of most kinds of foam materials.

Favoured Substrates
  • Polyurethane foams to each other as well as to
  • Upholstery fabrics, textiles
  • Latex foams
  • Non-woven fabrics, cotton
  • Plastics
  • Polyurethane, faux leather
  • Derived timber products
  • Leather
  • Not suitable for: PE, PP, PTFE (Teflon®), POM, silicone, EPDM, PVC-p (faux leather), PS-u (e.g. Styropor®)
  • Due to the large variety of possible materials and differences in adhesion behavior hazard tests are mandatory before introducing the adhesive into the actual production process.
Application & Uses

Surface preparation

Bonding surfaces must be dry and clean, especially free of oil, grease or solvents. In many cases, surface roughening prior to bonding improves strength of bonded joint.

Crosslinking agent

Use technicoll® 8102 with or without the crosslinking agent technicoll® 8355. Adding the crosslinking agent increases the strength, especially with heat. It is advised when the substrates are energized and at the same time are exposed to heat.

Adhesion

Stir adhesive before use. Generally, technicoll® 8102 is applied on both sides equally in a thin layer (spray gun, brush). Porous, rough surfaces usually require a thicker application or a second coat after the first one has dried. The thinner the application is, the softer the bonding seam will be! Solvent has to evaporate after the application. Usually, the waiting time is only a few minutes. It depends on the applied amount of adhesive and the indoor climate. The right time for the bonding has come as soon as the applied adhesion does not pull strings anymore when touching with the finger, but still feels very sticky. Join the substrates together accurately and assemble by expending quick high pressure. In most cases, the immediate high compound strength allows a further processing of the bonded parts right away. Wait for a couple of days before assessing the final strength.
