Application & Uses

Uses:

  • A cold-applied coating/resaturant for use with coal tar pitch BUR roofing.
  • Waterproofing and dampproofing of concrete and masonry surfaces.

Applications:

  • Ready to apply.
  • Do not heat.
  • Do not thin.
  • In cold weather, store the product at 70 - 80 ºF for 24 hours prior to application or use an OSHA-approved pail/drum heater.
Surface Preparation
  • All surfaces must be clean, free of heavy dirt, dust, debris, oils, loose gravel, un-adhered coatings, loose, scaling rust, deteriorated membranes, and other contaminants that may result in a surface that is not sound.
  • The surface must be free of frost, snow and ice.
  • Aggregate must be spud away to provide a proper work surface.
  • Fasteners must be repaired and/or replaced as needed.
  • If a primer is required, use Fortress® #5405 Tar Primer.
Application Directions
  • Apply to the prepared surface at a rate or 2 - 4 gallons per square if used as a coating over metal or composition roofs.
  • Apply to the prepared gravel-surfaced roof at a rate or 4 - 8 gallons per square.
  • Re-embed gravel.
Application Precautions
  • Do not use with or on 100% rubber or plastic substrates.
  • Do not use on or with products containing asphalt.
  • Do not use where this product may come in contact with potable water.
  • Do not thin.
  • Exterior use only.
Clean Up
  • Immediately rinse/flush equipment and tools with an OSHA-approved aromatic solvent after use, exercising all flammable liquid precautions.
  • Use waterless hand cleaner on the skin.
