Application & Uses

Uses:

  • As a reflective, energy-saving coating over smooth or gravel surfaced asphalt BUR, metal roofing and modified bitumen membranes.
  • Can also be used over mineral or gravel surfaced coal tar roofing systems if used in conjunction with TarBloc AP, stain-blocking primer.

Applications:

  • Ready to apply.
  • Do not heat.
  • Do not thin.
Surface Preparation
  • New roof installations and roof repairs should be allowed to weather the equivalent of 30 summer days prior to the application.
  • Surfaces may be dry or damp but must be free of all contaminants and standing water.
  • To ensure removal of all residual surface oils and biological growth (mold, mildew and algae), which can result in adhesion failures, surfaces to be coated should be cleaned and prepared with QuiKleen.
Application Directions
  • Using a suitable roofing brush, long nap roller, or airless sprayer, apply to properly prepared surfaces at a total coverage rate of 1½ to 2 gallons per 100 square feet. (When spraying, exercise caution to avoid overspray.)
  • Two coats, each at ½ the total coverage rate and applied perpendicular to one another, are required for optimum results.
  • Drying time to recoat is approximately 2 - 4 hours (70°F and 50% relative humidity).
Application Precautions
  • For exterior use only.
  • Do not apply if heavy rain or dew is expected or if temperatures are expected to drop below 45°F within 8 hours of application.
  • Not designed for areas that pond water.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Do not thin.
  • Do not apply to coal tar surfaces, unless primed with fortress® # 5606 Tarbloc AP.
  • Do not store below 45°F.
  • Not for use with potable water collection systems.
Clean Up
  • Immediately rinse/flush equipment and tools with water after use.
  • If the material has dried use mineral spirits, exercising all flammable liquid precautions.
  • Use waterless hand cleaner on the skin.
