Octopol 451 is primarily used as a corrosion inhibitor and is an excellent rust inhibitor. Some typical uses for Octopol 451 are in compressor/engine/gear oils, greases, and petroleum lubes. It is a low ash additive compatible with greases, industrial and automotive gear oils. Octopol 451 is used as an oxidation and corrosion inhibitor in many types of oils. Typical use levels are .25 – 1.0 percent by weight in lubricating greases and industrial gear oil.

Storage and Handling

Containers should be kept tightly closed; avoid direct sources of heat or sunlight when possible. Once a drum has been opened, it is important not to introduce bacteria into the drum. Make sure the part drum is used quickly and that all stock is rotated on a first-in, first-out basis. Protect from freezing. Store at 50 – 95 deg F. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Shelf life expected one year from date of manufacture provided the material is stored at proper temperatures and containers remain tightly closed.
