Usage/Purpose

SF108 is used for bonding PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings and bonding rubber floor coverings (see separate data sheet for SF108 Rubber).

Preparation

Site conditions MUST comply with British Standards CP 102, BS 8203, BS 5325 and supplementary specifications.

  • The surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from oil, grease, paint, dust and other contaminants liable to impair adhesion.
  • Concrete and sand/cement screeds must be fully cured and free from laitance.
  • Direct to earth subfloors must incorporate an efficient damp proof membrane.
  • Underfloor heating must have been fully commissioned as per manufacturer’s instructions and must be switched off 48 hours before and during installation. The heating should be switched on 48 hours after completion but then only gradually as per the commissioning schedule.
Priming
  • Porous surfaces MUST be primed with CS150 Acrylic Primer.
  • Apply the mixed primer to the prepared substrate by paint roller and allow to dry.
Application

The adhesive must be thoroughly stirred before use.

PVC FLOOR COVERING

  • Spread the adhesive evenly using a notched trowel (1.5 mm x 5 mm for PVC floor coverings).
  • Immediately roll with a long handled paint roller which has been wetted with the adhesive. Smooth out the trowel serration marks to give a uniform smooth appearance. Allow the adhesive to dry until it takes on a clear appearance.
  • On smooth even subfloors the adhesive can be applied direct with a paint roller if a uniform coating can be achieved.
  • Place the floor covering accurately in position and roll with a 68 kg flooring roller in both directions.

Traditional Application for Porous Substrates
Spread with a 1.5 mm x 5 mm notched trowel and lay flooring into semi wet adhesive.

PVC WALL CLADDING
(POSITIVE PRESSURE CLEAN ROOMS)

  • For negative pressure clean rooms, consult Tremco CPG UK Limited’s Technical Department.
  • Apply to clean, dry plaster or plasterboard.
  • Prime the areas of plastered wall with SF108 adhesive diluted 1:1 with clean water and allow to dry.
  • Prime the areas of plastered ceiling with a neat coat of SF108 and allow to dry.
  • Spread SF108 with a paint roller to the prepared surfaces and allow to dry. The adhesive will change from a white color to translucent.
  • Carefully place the pre-fitted PVC wall cladding into position on the DRY adhesive and firm in. Roll with a flooring grade hand roller from the center outwards to exclude air. A second rolling will be necessary.

DOUBLE STICK BONDING

  • With certain vinyls it may be necessary to double stick at the top edge to give extra support on the horizontal and at pressure points.
  • Apply SF115 to the back of the vinyl, approximately 150 mm deep at the edge and to the corresponding points on the wall including any pressure points, and allow it to become touch dry.
  • Carefully place on to the DRY SF108 adhesive and firm in.
Cleaning

Before adhesive hardens, use warm water to remove surplus adhesive and clean tools. Dry adhesive can be removed with a solvent based, heavy duty cleaner.

Please Note
  • SF108 is not recommended for wet areas unless all joints are sealed.
  • Not recommended for wall applications in wet rooms, bathrooms or shower rooms.
  • SF108 adhesive should never be exposed to humidity greater than 75%.
  • SF108 Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Adhesive is not recommended for wet areas unless all joints are sealed.
