Substrate Preparation
- To achieve best results, good preparation is essential. Degrease with U-POL Precleaner (UP2002, UP2012, UP2021 or UP2022). Abrade the surface:
- Original cured paint: wet flat with P400
- Aluminum and galvanized surfaces: must first be coated with 1-2 light coats of ACID#8 1K Etch Primer and allowed to dry for 20 minutes.
- Bare Metal, SMC, Fiberglass, Polyester Filler: dry flat with P180.
- Before applying primer, clean lightly once more with SYSTEM 20 Degreasers and dry thoroughly
Over Painting
GRAVITEX can be overpainted with most paint systems. For optimum gloss and duarbility the use of a topcoat system is recommended.
