Applications

Product Preparation

The product in this container is in concentrated form and must be diluted with 2-parts water to 1-part product, to create an effective working stain solution. Prior to dilution, the concentrate should be mixed or shaken, ensuring no settling on the bottom. Once the concentrate is thoroughly mixed, pour the desired amount into an appropriately sized container for dilution with water. Add the 2 parts water for each part stain concentrate and stir the concentrate-water blend thoroughly to get the diluted working solution to a uniform consistency and color. The working solution should be stirred frequently during the application period to prevent settling and maintain uniform color and consistency.

Surface Preparation

The ultimate performance of this stain in terms of quality of appearance and longevity, depends on underlying wood surface conditions and proper preparation. Any previously applied stains or sealers should be thoroughly removed. Any mold or mildew as well as any surface soil, including oil or grease stains, should be cleaned off thoroughly using a solution of three parts water to one part household bleach. Scrubbing may be required in heavily discolored areas. Strippers or cleaners used in preparation for staining must be completely rinsed off and the fence surface allowed to dry. The wood surface must be dry to the touch.

Application

Do not use if rain is expected with 24 hrs. Apply at temperatures above 45 Degrees F and below 95 Degrees F. Protect any surrounding surfaces from overspray. Do an initial test application of the stain in an inconspicuous area to be assured of having the desired final color and appearance. The stain working solution can be easily applied using a brush or roller, garden pump sprayer or airless sprayer. One generous coating is recommended. If a second coat is to be applied, allow no more than 25 minutes between coats. The stain should be dry to the touch in under 6 hours, although actual drying time can vary depending on temperature and humidity.
