- Product Highlights
Inutec® SL1 is made from inulin from chicory root, and lauric acid from coconut oil. It has an inulin polymer backbone, with anchored lauryl chains. Hydrated inulin creates a strong film around oil droplets, creating a strong primary emulsification system. It can second as co-emulsifier as a robust tool to correct emulsion problems such as stability that is a result of Ostwald ripening or coalescence.
Product Versatility
Inutec® SL1 is very versatile and works in extreme conditions.
- Compatible with all oil soluble or lipophilic substances - such as mineral oil/waxes, esters, vegetable oils/butters, silicone oils/elastomers, essential oils and sunscreens
- Works with various ‘difficult’ ingredients – such as salt (Na, K, Ca, Mg, etc. up to 26%), anionic and cationic substances, acid preservatives and glycols
- pH - effective between 4 – 11
- Temperature – stable emulsions from -20°C up to 50°C
- Viscosity – works in very low to high viscosity systems and does not contribute to viscosity itself
- Key Features
- Improves the skin feel of formulations
- Effective in very low to high viscosity systems
- Versatile and stable O/W emulsifier
- Works in extreme conditions (e.g. salt, pH)
- Stabilizes and helps correct many formulation issues
- Globally compliant (including China)

- Formulation Guidelines
Inutec® SL1 forms a hydrated film around oil droplets and creates smaller droplet sizes than obtained with standard emulsifiers. This results in a very light, non-tacky skin feel, even for formulations that contain high levels of tacky and greasy ingredients.
Inutec® SL1 can also help to boost performance of actives. By lending itself to a smaller droplet size, it takes longer for water to evaporate, allowing the actives in the water phase to remain on the skin longer. Actives in the oil phase can better penetrate due to the smaller droplet size.
- Recommended dosage: 0.2 – 4.8% - depending on amount of oil phase
- pH range: 4 – 11
- Add to and dissolve in water phase
