ULTRAMER NS 485 is used as versatile antifoam, particularly suitable for the production of masonry paints & coatings (for indoor and outdoor), water based inks, latex adhesive systems, detergent & cleaning materials and etc. Due to its highly effective antifoam properties, ULTRAMER NS 485 should be added to the system anytime during the process. It should be easily dispersed in water and not cause any decomposition or flocculation on the surface. Besides that, ULTRAMER NS 485 can be applied as antifoam/defoaming agent during the textile and leather production processes where silicone based antifoams are not suitable to use. Since it is self-dispersible, it can be safely used as a defoamer in jet applications where there is a risk of having stain. These self-dispersing and effective antifoam/defoaming features also make ULTRAMER NS 485 suitable for waste water treatment processes.

  • Generally, the use of 0,1-0,3% ULTRAMER NS 485 over the weight of paint is recommended. This rate should increase up to 1% depending on the application areas and process conditions. For this reason, preliminary trials should be done before the application. It is also recommended to add half of the ULTRAMER NS 485 to the system before the dispersion, then adding the remaining part during the dilution stage of the process. Thus, the maximum antifoam properties should be obtained.
  • ULTRAMER NS 485 should be added to a system at the final stage, during the production process of water based textile and leather auxiliary materials. It should be directly dosaged to the system during the production of textile and leather wet applications. The application amount could chance according to the type of the process and the product. In order to find optimum usage amounts and compatibility of the product with other chemicals, preliminary trials should be performed before the application.

Storage/Shelf Life
  • ULTRAMER NS 485 has a shelf life up to 6 months if stored in tightly closed original containers between 5-35°C. If the material is kept beyond the shelf life recommended, it is not necessarily unusable, but quality control should be performed on the properties relevant to the application. The containers must be protected against sunlight and frost.
