- Uses
Shurgard RA can be applied over a wide variety of substrates such as exterior grade gypsum sheathing, cement board and OSB. Shurgard ra is applied as a continuous membrane utilizing Ultrakote 4” Transition Mesh without voids or pinholes.
- Surface Preparation
Surface must be clean and free of bonding-inhibiting materials such as dirt, dust, rust, grease, oil, efflorescence, mildew, fungus, form-release agents or any other contami- nants. Remove and repair any loose paint, mortar, stucco, concrete or masonry by water blasting, sand blasting, scraping or using a wire brush.
- Coverage
Average coverage rates per mixed pail are:
- Dens Glass Gold: 400 - 500 F2 (37.1 - 46.5 m2)
- Exterior Grade Gypsum Sheathing: 450 - 550 F2 (41.8 - 51.1 m2)
- Cement Boards: 375 - 475 F2 (34.8 - 44.1 m2)
- OSB or Plywood: 225 - 325 F2 (21 - 30.2 m2) (Two coats required)
- Clean Up
Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use.
- Mixing
Shurgard RA is ready to use, simply thoroughly mix the pail prior to application. No water or additives should ever be added.
- Application
Use a synthetic brush or heavy nap roller and always use clean tools and equipment. Shurgard RA is rolled or sprayed over the approved substrate at 12 mils wet film thickness - 6 mils dry film thickness. OSB requirestwo coats to achieve sufcient coverage. Check the surface to ensure there are no voids or pinholes. Completely embed Ultrakote 4” Transition Mesh at all board joints and transitions to ensure a continuous barrier.
- Curing
Allow Shurgard RA to cure for 24 hours prior to applying the EPS insulation board.
- Limitations
Shurgard RA should be applied when surface and ambient conditions are between 40ºF (4.4ºC) and 95ºF (35ºC).
