- Source
Athrixia phylicoides, an aromatic herbaceous shrub, grows on cooler grassland slopes in the eastern and northern parts of South Africa. It is
prepared as a tea, ‘bush tea’, which is rich in anti-oxidants and is caffeine free and has been consumed for centuries. Only the fresh aerial parts of the plant are harvested, leaving the mother plant free to grow new shoots and flourish. The twigs and small branches are often made into durable hand brooms, hence the Zulu name for the plant is “iShanelo” or “Little Broom”.- Applications

- Claims
Clinical testing has proved that Atriclear refines and improves skin texture by reducing pore apertures, whilst firming and toning the skin leaving it soothed and feeling smoother. Aside from its remarkable antioxidant activity,Atriclearcontains important anti-fungal and anti-bacterial compounds that are now available for formulation into a topical application through this targeted extract developed byZuplex Botanicals.
Athrixia phylicoides has significant anti-oxidant activity from the concentration of phenolic compounds (flavonoids/polyphenols), greater than that of all common commercial teas other than green tea. Polyphenols and flavonoids reduce collagen degradation by reducing the concentration of free radicals in the skin tissues resulting in smoother firmer skin.
Atriclear was shortlisted for the Global Green Ingredient Award at In Cosmetics 2018.
