Fibertec's wollastonite products come in powder and fibrous grades. Powder grades tend to be used as fillers in coatings, adhesives, sealants and paints. It is an inert material with an alkaline pH that improves toughness, weather resistance and moisture absorption. Powders, while having some aspect ratio, all tend to be -325 mesh. Fiber grades have a diameter ranging from 5 to 15 microns and aspect ratios from 15 to 20. They are most commonly used as a lower cost, lower performance replacement for milled fibers in composites. They are compatible with all resins and may be surface treated. Fibertec wollastonites are acicular (needle-like) mineral products milled to various morphologies and bulk densities. These products can be surface treated to enhance performance in thermoset and thermoplastic resins. Fibertec wollastonite is used as functional fillers and reinforcements in composites (thermosets) and compounds (thermoplastics) to increase mechanical properties (tensile, flexural, impact), minimize distortion at elevated temperatures, improve dimensional stability, and provide low moisture absorption.

Fibertec micas are platy minerals. Mica is generically a complex group of aluminosilicates occurring naturally as plates or sheet-like forms. Fibertec micas can be surface treated to enhance performance in various resin systems. Fibertec mica is used as functional fillers providing reinforcement in thermoplastic and thermoset resins to improve flexural modulus, tensile strength, impact strength while minimizing shrinking and warping at elevated temperatures.

Millathane® millable polyurethane rubber comes in a number of Polyester and Polyether grades and subsequent formulary setups. Polyether grades have better water and hydrolysis resistance than polyester grades, while polyester grades have better heat, oil and compression set resistance than polyether grades. Most Millathane grades are available in a range of viscosities and can be packaged as dense bales or premilled sheets.

Rexolite is high voltage and high performance plastic. Rexolite® is a unique cross-linked polystyrene, microwave plastic manufactured by C-Lec Plastics Inc. This material’s most notable properties are it’s stable electrical properties into the Giga-hertz frequency range. It is also optically clear, with a slight yellow cast, when polished (approximately the same as Acrylic), dimensionally stable, and has excellent sound transmission characteristics. As a result, Rexolite® is often used for high-frequency circuit substrates, microwave components, and lenses with acoustic, optical and radio-frequency applications.

12|34® Formula was originally developed to protect materials in storage and to reclaim materials damaged by weather and/or saltwater exposure. Much of this work was done for the Navy and general aviation for corrosion prevention and rust removal. Rust has been called the Navy’s second most formidable enemy. 12|34® Formula has been enlisted in corrosion control and rust removal in multiple shipboard and shore installation applications for the Navy. In general aviation, light aluminum sections and component parts have been similarly protected by 12|34® Formula’s ability to stop corrosive oxidation. So successful was the product in these fields, that expanding 12|34® Formula into countless other industrial applications was inevitable.
