E-glass also known as electrical glass—is the standard glass composition used for most glass fibers. It is made from the oxides of silicon, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, and boron.

Our glass fiber reinforcements are 10 or 16 microns in diameter and milled to lengths ranging from 120 to 470 microns. They are used in composites to increase mechanical properties such as tensile, flexural and impact strength. They are also used to increase dimensional stability and minimize distortion at elevated temperatures. Milled glass fibers are compatible with all thermoset and thermoplastics resins. Surface treatments are available that may enhance performance. Microglass milled fibers are E-glass filaments hammer milled to various bulk densities. Microglass is used as a filler/reinforcement in composites to increase mechanical properties (tensile, flexural and impact), improve dimensional stability and minimize distortion at elevated temperatures.

S-glass is a high performance glass fiber, distinguished from E-glass primarily by its higher silica content. S-glass typically contains the oxides of silicon, aluminum, and magnesium.

DRAPTEX (post-drapable non-crimp fabric with gap-free surface made of glass fibers) can be fitted perfectly into your component. It serves mainly as local reinforcment in components. The fact that the fibers are movable guarantees an even higher drapability. One side offers a gap-free fiber surface.

Staple fiber, high tex yarns have a higher surface area that is ideal as a filtration medium for gas, dust and aerosols. Vetrotex manufactures a wide range of staple fibers ranging from 7 µm to 25 µm, perfect for use as filtration medium for mist elimination process. Vetrotex’s 11 um twisted staple fibers made of C offers a greater surface area for liquid filtration. Ideally designed for filtration medium in string wound cartridge filters used in aggressive chemical environment and high temperature applications. Fibers are bonded together with minimum amount of lubrication to provide good handling properties and higher tensile strength. Our staple fibers are non-hazardous and nonflammable.

These rovings are texturized into single end entangled or bulked rovings. Texturized roving is used to decrease resin richness and edge cracking in thin pultruded components and as a replacement for continuous strand mat in small and tubular profiles. Texturized rovings are often used in window profiles, which typically have many thin cross sections. This product is composed of single end E-glass fiberglass rovings, which have been air jet entangled or bulked to form a larger strand. Sizing is compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy, and polyurethane

Depending on the fiber type, surface weight and angle combination, various mechanical characteristics can be achieved.
