Kardol was founded in 1939 to manufacture car appearance products. By 1980, Kardol had over 100 car appearance products and dominated its market within 100 miles of Cincinnati, Ohio. A survey at that time showed that 92% of the new car dealerships in that market used Kardol car appearance products. In 1980, H.A. (“Sam”) Bedwell bought the company from its two chemist founders. After his purchase, Sam developed a full line of repair products for the automotive paint, body and equipment aftermarket (called the “PBE” market), the marine, hardware paint sundries and consumer markets.
