YAG phosphor exhibits yellow-light emission from the characteristic 5d and 4f energy levels. The energy levels of the 5d1 excited states and the emission photon energy of Ce3+ ion strongly depend on the host crystals via the crystal-field-induced energy level splitting of the 5d1 orbital. Combined with a blue InGaN LED, YAG phosphor has been successfully used in WLED.
