The main task was the start of peat extraction on the raised bog in Garanas, which was used as planting material and in the meantime also as bedding. In the first 15 years before the opening of the moor bath in Schwanberg, the raised moor peat was sold as far away as Vienna and northern Italy, which enabled up to 12 employees to be employed. Start of deliveries of the recognized healing moor to the Schwanberg moor spa for medical use (moor porridge baths, moor packs, etc.). Due to the restructuring, much less of the raw material was mined and the number of employees was reduced, but long transports were no longer necessary because the mud bath was located only about 15km away from the moor deposits. In addition, the intended use was more meaningful and consequently the healing successes came about.

Southern Agricultural Insecticides, Inc. was started in the 1930’s headed by Hans Diem. During this time, crop dusting by hand was the most common method of pesticide application. Custom dust blends included ingredients such as Sulfur, Copper, Pyrethrin and Rotenone. Personnel and equipment was often moved between locations in Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina to maintain a year round business. The company was incorporated in 1947. John Diem joined the business after a servicing the war stateside in explosives manufacturing. SA-50 became the company’s trademark because 0.5% pyrethrin dust was the flagship product. The four blocks on the logo represented the Swiss flag. In the later part of the 1940’s the company started to distribute and formulate many of the newer products that were being developed by such companies as Bayer, Ciba, Dow and Dupont. In the 1960’s and 1970’s many of the customers were vegetable farms and feed stores. In the 1980’s, the business expanded into supplying pesticides and fertilizer products for turf, ornamental and garden centers. The company is still owned and operated by the founding family.

"In the 1970s the company Holding Company of the Samca Group that owns Daymsa, mined black lignite coal by means of underground and opencast mining methods from their mines in the Valle de Ariño (Teruel) These mines suffered from recurrent and unfortunate sterilization where the coal suddenly transformed into what was disparagingly called “dust”: a black, highly staining coal, that became unpleasantly embedded in skin and nails, and which surprisingly and regrettably did not burn! "T&N, Incorporated, was founded in 1988 by a group of local farmers and investors. The primary purpose was to initially support the local farming area with grain storage, feed production and fertilizer for row crop nutrients. Soon after its inception, production and distribution of bagged fertilizer, ice melter, seed and related products began to expand. With the increased demand, the purchase of additional land and buildings for production and storage was completed. The new facilities included streamlined blending with automated bagging and finished product storage. The growing local demand and expansion outside of the St Louis region was met with additional investment. The transformation from production and distribution to manufacturing has taken place over the last ten years. In 2003, the decision was made to expand the existing finished goods area. Completion of a 50,000 square foot addition was done in the fall of 2004. This increased storage capacity to over 100,000 square feet. The additional storage provides product availability for seasonal demand in the spring and fall. Construction of a 10,000 square foot bulk storage building was completed in the fall of 2007. The addition of the bulk building has increased the storage area for raw materials. This new building will help guarantee that T&N, Incorporated, will have the raw materials needed, no matter how harsh the winter weather is. Professional turf and ice melting products are now the primary business of T&N, Incorporated.
