Accepta® BG520

1 of 30 products in this brand

Accepta® BG520 or BROMGARD 520 is a heavy metal free, silicate based blend of inorganic and organic scale and corrosion inhibitors combined with a bromine pre-cursor. The product provides scale and corrosion control over a wide range of water qualities and operational conditions.

When used in conjunction with ACTIVATOR 120 or 150 the correct level of “bromine” is released to control microbiological growth in the system.

Product Features
  • Bromgard is a unique range of multi-functional liquid cooling water inhibitors and special activators which can be matched to specific cooling system metallurgy and water supply characteristics. They incorporate corrosion and scale inhibitors, bio-dispersant to prevent fouling and a powerful bromine biocide to control microbial activity.
  • Bromgard is the ideal treatment system to protect against Legionnaires’ Disease. A Bromgard treatment program comprises of an appropriately selected Inhibitor and Activator, and where needed, this may be augmented by an additional non-oxidizing biocide.

Dosage Rates Information
  • Like most film-forming corrosion inhibitors maximum protection is afforded if a pre-treatment period is adopted.
  • BROMGARD 520 is dosed at 3 times the normal dosage for a period of 5 days at the start of the treatment program, enabling a strong film to be built up quickly.
  • Similarly, should the normal dosage be interrupted for any length of time, an elevated dosage for a short period of time will re-establish maximum protection in the shortest possible time.
  • BROMGARD 520 should be dosed to maintain a minimum reserve of 200ml/m³ in the system water at all times.
  • The product should be applied through the COOLPLEX DG M dosing system which has been specifically designed to apply the correct dose level of BROMGARD 520 and ACTIVATOR to ensure optimum control of corrosion, scale and microbiological growth.
Bromgard Applications
  • The Bromgard Inhibitor is dosed to maintain a continuous residual in the recirculating water. This is most effectively done using a water meter controlled dosing pump drawing the chemical directly from the supply drum or from a bulk storage dosage tank.
  • As well as this, the Bromgard Activator is dosed on demand to achieve the desired microbial control. Depending on the particular cooling system, this may be achieved either by intermittent time-controlled dosage or more often by Redox controlled dosage to maintain the desired continuous bromine residual (typically 1- 2mg/).
  • Switching is easy as the Bromgard approach is fully compatible with most existing cooling water dosing equipment, simplifying program change.
  • The Bromgard cooling water treatment program can be monitored by a standard bromine test kits so that the necessary adjustments can be made and compliance demonstrated.
