Clin-Cat 839 Cationic Corn Starch #028839 is specifically prepared with the addition of adipic acid to produce a superior starch for the internal sizing of paper. This product can improve the retention of fillers such as titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, and clay. It can also improve the retention of fine fibers and sheet strength (i.e., burst strength and Scott bond). This cationic corn starch is derivatized using a quaternary amine. Since its cationic charge is observed over a wide pH range, it can be suitable for either acidic or alkaline papermaking systems.

Provided that the product is stored in a dry location that is free of infestation, the starch will have an indefinite shelf-life. It is recommended that the inventory be rotated and used within three years. If the product in inventory has sustained minor damage, it should be used as soon as possible to avoid air exposure and caking.
