Dermol CTR is a unique natural emollient ester made from the reaction of cetyl alcohol and ricinoleic acid which is derived from castor oil. The unsaturation of the ricinoleic acid combined with the cetyl alcohol results in an ester which has a soft buttery consistency which melts at body temperature. The ricinoleic acid (C-18 acid) which features a double bond and hydroxyl group both aid in imparting moisturizing properties to the skin. Dermol CTR is an ideal additive for use in a wide range of formulations such as lipsticks, pressed powder, make-up and other anhydrous products where it aids in the dispersing and suspending of pigments and other actives. It provides a smooth and velvety texture and consistency. In creams and lotions, it imparts outstanding emolliency and skin softness as well as adding to the body of stability of emulsions. Dermol CTR is compatible with a broad range of natural and synthetic derivatives. It is also used as a conditioner opacifier and sheen additive for hair preparations.
