Applications

Mixing & Application

  • Mixing/Mix Ratio: Mix 1 part, by volume, of J1100 Urethane into eight parts of Part A Acrylic Alkyd. Hand or mechanically agitate carefully to avoid air entrapment.
  • Pot Life: After J1100 is mixed into the urethane at 80°F, the mixture must be applied within 8 hours. Discard catalyzed material beyond this time frame. Do not add new material into old to extend pot life.
Temperature Pot Life
80°F 8 Hour
  • Surface Temperature: Minimum 50°F

  • Recommended Thickness: 1.5-2.0 mils dry (Number of coats and thickness requirements will vary with substrate, application method, and service equipment).
  • Theoretical Coverage: 715.5 ft2 /gal at 1 mil dry of mixed material assuming no application losses. Coverage will vary depending on the color, application technique, porosity, and design of the substrate.
Coverage Rates per Coat (Dry Mils) 1.5
Coverage Rates per Coat (Wet Mils) 3.7
Coverage Rates per Coat (Ft²/gal) 476

Application Equipment

Airless Spray (Pressure) 1200-2200  psi
Conventional Spray (Air Pressure) 60 - 80 psi
Conventional Spray ( Fluid Pressure) 10 - 20 psi

This product is moisture sensitive until cured—avoid moisture contamination. For optimal performance apply when the relative humidity is less than 60%. Do not apply when the surface temperature is within 5°F of the dew point or when the relative humidity is greater than 80%. Do not apply when frost, dew, or rain is forecasted within the next 24 hours (72 hours in cooler temperatures). Apply first coat as a mist or tack coat prior to subsequent finish coats as specified by job requirements. Do not mix partial kits.

Common Usage: This product is targeted for applications such as farm and shop equipment, and heavy machinery. Primer will be determined by service environment and job specifications.

Cleanup: Clean all tools and equipment with Anchor #T022 Xylene Solvent. For disposal of empty containers and unused product, contact your industrial refuse collection service.

Where to Use

Ideal use in applications such as farm and shop equipment, and heavy machinery.

Preparation & Priming

  • New Work: For best performance on steel, the surface should be blasted to SSPC-SP6 or SSPC-SP10, including the removal of all mill scale. Prior to blasting, remove all flux and scab from welding and grind smooth all rough weld seams and sharp edges. Remove any grease, oil, or dirt with solvent (SSPC-SP1), or chemical cleaner before blasting. The surface should be coated within 24 hours after blasting. Apply over properly primed surface as detailed by applicable specifications.
  • Old Work: Substrate must be clean, dry and thoroughly degreased in accordance with SSPC-SP1 standards. All damaged areas should be repaired and existing paint should be in good condition. This coating may be applied over most old coatings in sound condition. Check the existing paint by applying on a trial patch and observe overnight for lifting, softening, or wrinkling. If this occurs, the existing paint must be removed or a compatible barrier primer must be applied first. Glossy surfaces should be sanded or brush blasted for best performance.
  • Primer Coats: Primer should be phenolic alkyd such as Anchor 472 Gray, 2653 Red, or 2655 White. Epoxy Primer such as Anchor 3900 may be used if heavy duty service is required.

Safety & Health

Safety Information
  • Flammable liquid and vapor. Vapor harmful. Contains xylene.. May affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea. Causes nose, eye, skin and throat irritation. Harmful if swallowed. Notice: reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain, and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal.
  • Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Vapors may cause flash fire. Close container after each use. Do not smoke. Extinguish all flames and pilot lights, and turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors and other sources or ignition during use and until all vapors are gone. Prevent build-up of vapors by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. Ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headache or dizziness or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor/mist levels are above applicable limits, wear an appropriate, properly fitted respirator (niosh approved) during and after application. Follow respirator manufacturer’s directions for respirator use. Do not get in eyes, on skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep out of reach of children.
  • If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. Lead is toxic. Exposure to lead dust can cause serious illness, such as brain damage, especially in children. Pregnant women should also avoid exposure. Wear a niosh-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a hepa vacuum and a wet mop.
