Features & Benefits

Key Attributes
  • All-in-one hydrophobicity by hybrid technology
  • Reduces the re-drying time
  • Saving of resources
  • Strongly reduces the capillary water absorption
  • Increases the surface hydrophobicity and provides a good beading effect
  • Improves strongly the water vapor permeability
  • Low tendency to dirt pick-up
  • Increases the early water resistance
  • High durability in the final coating (the crosslinking character of VARIPHOB® AC 3030 prevents it from being washed out)
  • Film-forming
  • Easy to incorporate
  • Free from cyclic silicones (D4/D5/D6)

Use Level
1.0 - 8.0%
Application Technique
  • VARIPHOB® AC 3030 is especially recommended for pigmented formulations.
  • Preferred Application Fields:
    • Dispersion paints and plasters
    • Silicate paints and plasters
    • Silicone resin paints and plasters
Recommendation for Use
  • In classic color formulations, a combination of silicone resin and silicone oil is typically used to adjust the hydrophobic properties of the coating material.
  • Thanks to its unique hybrid technology, VARIPHOB® AC 3030 can be used to create formulations containing only VARIPHOB® AC 3030 as a hydrophobic component. This simplifies recipes and reduces the number of raw materials used.
  • We generally recommend adding 1.0 - 8.0 % VARIPHOB® AC 3030 in aqueous coating systems related to the total formulation.
  • The optimal dosage has to be determined in pre-trials.
  • The product is typically considered a binder when calculating the pigment volume concentration due to its crosslinking character.
  • In aqueous coating systems the product is added during or at the end of the production process.
