- Typical Uses
TERRAZZCO® Bonding Agent 159 is ideal for industrial, commercial, retail, healthcare and institutional facilities. This epoxy resin product creates an effective bond between the concrete slab and the terrazzo topping.
- Application
Surface Preparation: All work should be performed by trained and experienced contractors or maintenance personnel. Concrete surface and air temperature must be a minimum of 55°F during installation and cure. Concrete surface temperature must be a 5° above the dew point to ensure proper curing of the material.
Materials Needed
- Hand mixing drill with jiffy blade
- Mineral spirits or isopropyl alcohol for cleaning equipment
Mixing & Application
- Premix TERRAZZCO® Bonding Agent 159 resin part A using a low-speed drill and jiffy blade for two to three minutes
- Add one part TERRAZZCO® Bonding Agent 159 resin part A to one part TERRAZZCO® Bonding Agent 159 hardener part B by volume. Mix using the drill and jiffy blade for two to three minutes
- Pour the mixed material onto the working area and spread using a roller or squeegee to achieve a thickness of 6 mils (300-350 sq. ft. per unit). All areas should be uniformly coated. Coverage will vary depending on surface profile and porosity.
Clean Up
Clean skin with soap and water. Tools and equipment should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol or mineral spirits before the epoxy hardens. Failure to do so will cause the epoxy system to harden on the tools and equipment making it very difficult to remove.

Technical Details & Test Data
- Considerations
- Substrate temperature must be a minimum of 55o F before, during and 72 hours after installation. The surface temperature of the concrete must be 5° above the dew point to ensure proper curing.
- Substrate must be free of dirt, waxes, curing agents and other foreign materials. The concrete surface must be prepared by shot blasting or by grinding. Depending on porosity of concrete, multiple costs of TERRAZZCO® Bonding Agent 159 may be required.
- Convenient mix ratio 1 part resin: 1 part hardener by volume
- Concrete surface must not contain puddles of standing water during application.
- TERRAZZCO® Bonding Agent 159 is not intended to be used as a moisture vapor barrier.
- Materials should be allowed to acclimate to controlled application environmental conditions prior to being mixed.
- Material is not designed to be used as a moisture vapor barrier.
- Working Data

Storage & Handling
- Shelf Life
Epoxy resin does not have a shelf life and hardener has a 1-year shelf life in unopened containers.
- Storage Conditions
It is suggested that materials are stored in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. If this is not possible materials should be allowed to acclimate to controlled environmental conditions of application. Keep resins and hardeners separated from each other until ready for use. Materials should be kept away from sources of ignitions. Materials should be stored in their original unopened container.
