AFCONA Aldehyde Resin SH-A81 is a very effective grind resin for solvent-based systems. Very good solubility and great compatibility in a wide range of solvent-based binders. Aldehyde resin is soluble in almost common paint solvents such as aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, esters and so on but insoluble in water. Its solubility in non-polar solvents such as mineral oil, aliphatic hydrocarbons, alicyclic hydrocarbons is limited.

Aldehyde resin SH-A81 is a very effective grind resin for solvent based systems. Very good solubility, and great compatibility in a wide range of solvent-based binders. AFCONA-4701 offers:

  • improved gloss and DOI
  • improved hardness
  • higher resistance to yellowing
  • higher solid content
  • Excellent wetting properties of pigments and fillers

Aldehyde Resin is compatible with many coatings raw materials including: Alkyd resin, Cellulose nitrate, Cellulose acetate - butyrate, Petroleum resin, Phenolic resin, Urea-formaldehyde resin, Epoxy resin, Rosin, Vinyl chloride copolymers, Acrylic resin, Polyurethane resin, Chlorinated rubber, Phthalate plasticizer, Melamine-formaldehyde resin, Polyamide resin Aldehyde resin is soluble in almost common paint solvents such as aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, esters and so on but insoluble in water. Its solubility in nonpolarsolventssuch asmineral oil, aliphatic hydrocarbon, alicyclic hydrocarbon is limited.

Applications & Uses

Addition and Dosage

Required amount of AFCONA-4701 active ingredient based on pigment weight:

  • TiO2 : 2 - 3%
  • Other inorganic pigments : 2 - 4%
  • Organic pigments : 20 - 40%
  • Carbon blacks : 20 - 60%
Incorporation

Aldehyde Resin SH-A81 should be incorporated in the mill base before adding the pigments.

Aldehyde Resin SH-A81 should be stored in a cool, dry place. When kept in its original, unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiration date is indicated on the container.
