AFCONA S713 is a wetting and dispersing additive used to prevent flooding and floating of pigments. It is very effective, offering performance close to that of a high molecular weight dispersant. It is recommended for medium to high polarity systems, such as polyurethane (PU), ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), ultraviolet (UV)-cured, nitrocellulose (NC), heat-cured, and acid-cured systems. This product is also widely used in printing inks.

Features & Benefits

Product Properties

AFCONA-S713 is very effective, offering performance close to that of a high molecular weight dispersant. It is recommended for medium to high polarity systems, such as PU, UPE, UV, NC, heat-cured paints and acid cured systems. This product is also widely used in printing ink. It is not recommended for air - drying alkyds, because of potential incompatibility with these systems. AFCONA – S713 offers the following special properties:

  • AFCONA-S713 can be used as an additive for post addition to correct flooding and floating. It will re-flocculate inorganic pigments to the same degree as the organic pigments so that they can move at the same speed. Using this method to solve flooding and floating will sometimes reduce the gloss of the dry film, especially when the dosage is higher than 0.8% on total formulation.
  • AFCONA-S713 is not compatible with white spirit or paints which are diluted with white spirit.
  • Note: AFCONA – S713 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5° C. This will not influence the performance of the product.
