Applications

Deuteron UV 2257 may be used as a UV initiator for all binders that can be cationically polymerized, particularly epoxides used in the printing ink sector. Alkaline additives should be avoided because they impair the effectiveness of Deuteron UV 2257.

Dosage

Concentrations of at least 1 % of Deuteron UV 2257 are recommended for technical applications. It may be necessary to use 5 % or more for special requirements. The higher the dosage, the greater the increase of hardening speed without having to fear brittleness of the film. It is not necessary to use co-solvents. If UV sensitizers are used (such as ITX), this may lead to an increase in the depth hardness of the paint film. If possible, radiation exposure can take place at intervals. Regarding the final hardness, this would improve the energy utilization.

Processing

Deuteron UV 2257 can be worked smoothly into the binding agent using a speed stirrer or other mixing aggregate, e.g. dissolver.
