Many products of this nature are effective only at maximum dyebath temperatures and function more as an anti-foam with little or no foam knock-down power. While the prevention of foam formation should be the first consideration, it is equally important to be able to kill foam without the use of excessive amounts of the product, or having to store both defoamers and anti-foams in the dyehouse. It is in this area that DYNOFOAM FRS excels and it can be added even at elevated dyeing temperatures without fear of splitting, scumming or spotting of the fabric.
Depending upon other dyebath components 1/10 to 1% owg (or 1/10 to 1/2 gram/liter in continuous dyeing) is generally effective over the entire dye cycle without any further additions. In guar gum make-up tanks 1/10 gram/liter should be used if products such as Elasticizer CB-97 are introduced. However, if Elasticizer CB-LF is used no addition of anti-foam is necessary.
- Uses
If DYNOFOAM FRS or any silicone is used in dyeing polyester extreme care should be taken to insure that the fabric is rinsed truly free of silicone since any residual silicone on polyester greatly increases its flammability characteristics.
