    Features & Benefits

    Product Highlights

The main differences with other lavandula are in the aroma and some morphological change in the structure of the stem, the size of the spike and greater intensity in the flower. We also find differences in the extraction of its essential oil, making it more commercial.

They are shrub, perennial plants with a woody stem, with narrowly lanceolate to widely elliptical leaves, whole, toothed or several times divided, with simple, branched and glanduliferous hairs. Its flower is spiciform, formed by more or less close verticillasters, often with long escapes. It has four stamens, didynamos, the upper ones shorter, generally not protruding from the tube. The flowers are grouped in spikes strongly scented and of an intense purple color. The fruit is a tetranucula, each ellipsoid in shape, brown in color.

The plant is resistant and adapts to arid, dry and calcareous climates, being very popular the extraction of its essential oil, for the elaboration of flavorings. This essence is mainly used in the toiletries and perfume industries. Its collection is carried out during its flowering normally in the summer months depending on the variety.

Traditional medicine uses it as a remedy for relaxation and sensory stimulation, although it also has anti-inflammatory and anti-pain properties. It is also applied as an antiseptic and disinfectant and even as an insect repellent.
