Sage CO2-TO Extract 5% Oleanolic/Ursolic Acid is a dark brown viscous liquid at 40°C with a characteristic smell and taste. This product is produced by supercritical fluid extraction with natural carbon dioxide with addition of a small amount of alcohol as entrainer, no inorganic salts, no heavy metals and no reproducible microorganisms.Ideal for application in stabilization of fatty oils, carotenoids, essential oils against oxidation; anti-aging, antiinflammatory component in cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations. Ursolic acid inhibits indirectly metalloproteinases, which induces the decompositon of collagen in skin and has also anticancer properties.

    Applications

    Traditional use:
    Due to the phenolic diterpenes carnosol and carnosic acid content, the extract hasantioxidant and antimicrobial properties [2, 3].
    In food:
    Sage extract has a characteristic flavor, which suits well to meat and poultry products.The use as spice extract in other foods is also possible.

    In food supplements:
    It can also be used as a flavoring component in food supplements.
    In cosmetics:
    The antioxidant carnosolic acid contained in the extract can reduce oxidative changes inskin surface lipids when applied to the skin. Moreover, the ursolic acid contained in theextract may protect against skin aging caused by UV radiation. Hence, the product issuitable as an ingredient in cosmetic skin care products, especially in anti-aging and sunprotection products [2, 4]. Due to its characteristic flavor profile, it can also be used as afragrance in perfumes and other cosmetic care products.
