It is an important herb in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and baicalin, the active flavonoid isolated from the plant, is known for many biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.   • The hair follicle is comprised of epidermal and dermal compartments, whose reciprocal interactions are considered to be key regulators of hair follicle development and the hair cycle.
