Wipe Procedure
- The mold surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all residues of waxes, release agents and sealers. We recommend Chemlease® Mold Cleaner EZ. (please ask your Chem-Trend Sales Representative for recommendations).
- Saturate a clean 100% cotton cloth with Chemlease® Sealer 2697 (not dripping wet) and apply in a thin even film. Only work on an area of 0.6 m² at a time.
- A sufficiently thin layer can be recognized by the sheen, no "running" should be visible. Under normal conditions, this film dries in 60 seconds.
- If a damp film is still visible after 1 minute, the film was applied too thick and may cause streaks / streaks on the mold. To solve this problem on the affected mold area, remove the sealer film by rubbing with a dry cotton cloth. Then apply a very thin, fresh sealer film with a lightly soaked cotton cloth and immediately rub off with a dry cotton cloth in circular movements to remove the streaks/streaks that have formed. Then apply a fresh thin layer of sealer as described above (step 3).
- Repeat the above steps until the entire mold surface is finished.
- Let this layer dry for 15 minutes.
- Apply a second coat of Chemlease® Sealer 2697 as described above. For a new mold or very difficult to demould parts, Apply two more layers to the components so that total of 4 coats are applied. (Please wait 15 minutes between each shift).
- Allow approximately 30 minutes to cure before applying the release agent.
Spray Method
- The mold surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all residues of waxes, release agents and sealers. We recommend Chemlease® Mold Cleaner EZ. (please ask your Chem-Trend sales representative for recommendations).
- When spraying, use a clean hand spray gun or clean, dry compressed air spray system. It is important that all containers and spray accessories are thoroughly cleaned and dry. Hold the spray gun 10-15 inches from the mold and spray a thin, even film. The film must not run or drip (avoid overdosing).
- In order to completely coat the mold surface, spray on a second very thin coat crosswise (0° / 90°). With spray application, there is no waiting time between coats.
- For a new mold or components that are very difficult to demould, spray on two more thin coats as described (a total of 4 coats).
- Allow approximately 30 minutes to cure after the last coat before applying the release agent.
Important: The recommended number of mold coats and drying and curing times are general guidelines based on a wide range of applications and demolding conditions. Under special conditions such as extreme shape geometries or low humidity, longer curing times or a higher number of coats than indicated may be necessary.
