- Often defined as the “living fossil”, Ginkgo biloba tree is the only survivor of a genus originated 150 million years ago. Ginkgo leaves are well-known for their content of a wide variety of medically active chemicals, most notably terpenoids (ginkgolides and bilobalide) and flavonoids.
